Hectic Christmas Weekend

This Christmas is definitely one of the busiest I ever had, with almost all the time totally filled up.

Friday (Christmas Eve)
Went to watch Kung Fu Hustle with my classmates. It was just ok. Maybe its because of the high expectations I had for it. Some scenes are really damn funny though. Had dinner together with my classmates and then left orchard before being squeezed to a molecule. We proceeded to West Coast Park where we spent the whole night. It’s a nice feeling. We really have not got together for a long long time, although some members are still missing. Come on people. Stay strong. Stay united. Also thanks to PK and MH for the lovely card. I really love it. Haha..though I didn’t give one back..tsk..tsk…it’s all in the heart, ok…you know I know. We went home around 6 am in the morning. Everyone really exhausted already.

Saturday(Christmas)
Woke up in the early afternoon and proceeded to an ex classmate’s house for buffet dinner. Abalone, salmon fish, lobster, high class cakes…wah…sounds unbelievable? Well, they are all in my stomach. Best buffet I ever had. We hanged around till around 10 pm at night before I went to my another friend’s house for a round of drinks. Drank and stayed on till around 6am in the morning before going home to catch some sleep. 4 hours later, I have to be up to go to another friend’s house for housewarming.

Sunday (Boxing day)
Had to wake up around 11 am to meet my friend at Jurong Point. Then met up with the others at Gombak before going off together. Had a little gathering with a number of old friends who I had not seen for a long time. At least everyone is still fine. We stayed till around evening before going home where I am meeting my soccer khakis for a game of soccer.

Anyway merry Christmas and happy new year to all. Sorry, couldn’t possibly meet up with everyone. Thanks for all the invitations and may 2005 be a better year. Take care, everyone, especially the old friends.

Burden Off

Yet another busy week. Has been sleeping an average of 3 hours for the past few nights.

First job done: My ITP log book and my ITP report. Finally completed them and hand in to my IO. The only thing is that this report will definitely not be a contender for report of the year and the reason is because I don’t know what I have been crapping throughout the report. As long as it’s completed, who cares?

Second job done: My IMGT tutorial. Wah..Imgt very the chim leh….heard from the teacher that the pass rate is 99%...Hopefully he never fails his maths and his statistic is correct.

Third job done: My fyp first phrase submission. My supervisor was overall very satisfied with what I have done so far. “You have been making very good progress, Yifan.”

I swear I almost cried on the spot. It has been many years since a teacher complimented me. The remarks I am used to hearing are “you know, at this rate you are going to fail”, “Yifan, for goodness sake, please do your work.” , “Yifan..how many times must I tell you the importance of being punctual….” Haiz……these teachers forget the importance of a healthy childhood and social life. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. If I always do work only, what about my social life? 8 out of 10 teachers who taught me always say I will fail. Aiya, I always got study one mah….1 day before exam lor… As for punctuality, do they honestly know the importance of adequate sleep everyday? You must understand that if you sleep at around 5 o clock every night, it is very hard to wake up one. Why do I sleep at 5 o clock? Blame SCV. Ask them why the live matches are always in the middle of the night. In case you people think that I am wailing for all the wrong reasons and finding stupid excuses for myself, YES!!!! YOU ARE DAMN RIGHT!!!! Of course lah, where got people say themselves in the wrong one?

Busy busy busy long week

Really a week filled with many events and activities.

Wednesday
Went KTV with a number of friends. My first KTV session since coming back from India. Think my voice is a lot more spicy and rusty due to a whole month of having curry.

Thursday
A BBQ session with all the India expedition people. Quite nice seeing them all again. As usual, our conversation is mostly about the wonderful trip we had. I think if even a choice again, everyone of us will opt India as our attachment. HAIL INDIA!! The land of joy (bull shit, mosquitoes, flying slipper and crazy drivers)!!

Friday
Had planned to rest at home but was dragged to the school party by my classmates. I think they regretted that decision. That Christmas bash really needs some bashing. The total time I spent inside was only around 10 minutes. The convention hall booked was the size of around 2 basketball courts. They should have just booked a classroom since only 20 odd people minus the society people attended. After the party we went for supper at Clementi. It has really been a long long time the few of us gathered to have supper together. Hopefully the whole class can hang on. Haiz..the class seems to be splitting up already. What has happened to our unity and strength?

Saturday
Went to watch a movie with a couple of my friends. A world without thieves. It is certainly a good movie. The cast was almost perfect. Andy Lau being the charming thief with Liu Luo Ying as his sidekick cum girlfriend. The various China actors were brilliant too. Especially the guy called Sha Gun. Haha… he really provides good comic relief. After the movie we gate crashed to a friend’s sister chalet. Played some mahjong and talk cock. Lost a bit of money (Kang Ni, pay for me will ya? After you call me I really lose until the end. Talk about jinx.)

I suddenly realized I have quite a number of things I have yet to do. An ITP report and log book due on Wednesday, FYP analysis report, Inventory Management homework and also have to find my IO to fill in Giro form. Haiz..so many things..so little time….never mind I will try to do them tomorrow…AND…I know I will say the same things tomorrow….yet again.

Learning to live and accepting each other for who they are is really a form of art.

An old friend

I remember I once had a conversation with a female friend few years ago.

“ You know, my future boyfriend must be very handsome and extremely charming, drives a car and also very rich. The best is he also can cook and sing for me as well. These must be the terms and conditions of my boyfriend.” she says.

“ So, have you ever wonder what you can offer to your future boyfriend? The plus points that can make your boyfriend proud of you?” was my reply.

There was an awkward silence between us and the conversation ended almost immediately. Since then we never really talked and ever since graduating from Secondary school, I have never seen her ever again.

I supposed she was quite offended by what I have said but believe me, I had tried to be tactful already. You know, the first reply that came to my head was, “ Then you will die an old virgin.”

I also don’t understand why I was that pissed off that time. Maybe I was really sick of girls saying,” I want this, I want that or I should get this or that.”

Look here, I am not trying to spark a war and I do know of guys who also say “ My girl must have good looks, huge boobs and extremely gentle towards me.” IDIOTS, who wouldn’t want that? I understand everyone has their own expectations but do be rational at times. Before you expect something from someone else, always look at what you have and what you are.

That particular girl was actually quite pretty and had quite a number of suitors. But she is quite harsh in her words when she turns them down. “Sorry, but I don’t think you are good looking enough to be my boyfriend.” That is how superficial she is.

YAH YAH..I know what you all are thinking about. You must be thinking I am that pathetic guy that was rejected by her years ago and here I am having my revenge by writing bad about her right? NAH NAH..sorry but I never like vases and nor will I like someone who always think she is superior to everyone.

To be honest, that girl to me is pretty, that’s all. Does being pretty means being superior to everyone? Being pretty doesn’t give you the right to look down on people. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure why she is never popular with her peers and most people will try to shun her as talking to her is really sometimes, a disaster. Her conversations always involve about how pretty she is and always deserve better. Yah right, I think she belongs to Mars.

I feel that it’s very tiring to constantly be compared to and living up to expectations. Maybe sometimes, girls should give their boyfriends a break and praise them once a while instead of comparing them to the other guys. I think most guys will keep quiet and I know deep inside, there will be a little twinge of sadness and helplessness. It’s the ego that is preventing them from speaking out. How about applying some empathy? What if it’s the other way round and you are the one being compared to? How good will you feel?
And please please, I repeat again. I am not sparking a war so please don’t bomb my message box saying what a bastard and sexist I am. Relax, I am only stating a fact and offering some tips on how to maintain a good relationship with your other half.

I also don’t know why this girl suddenly came to my mind. Haha, quite interesting when I think back. Hope she has found her rich, handsome, caring, loving and wonderful prince charming.

I know I am not the best but I am always trying my best to be better than the rest.

My new classmate, Mr Weirdo(I have been waiting for you for a long long time)

Today is my first BA (basic animation) lesson. To be honest I was quite sian. That is because I will be having my class with a whole class of unfamiliar faces and they are all from year 2.

I was already late for class. I went into the classroom around 3.15 and the lesson was at 3 o’clock. Then I saw HIM. YES!! Who else but him!! The one I have been waiting for a long long time. The one that continues to mysterify me since year 1. To everyone, I present, Mr Jonathan Zi Wei aka peacock killer. Oh my god, what an honor.

I know I am being quite bad. Yah, to a certain extend. But sorry, I can’t help it. This guy is so fascinating that I have to talk about him. The best part is I have to be classmates with him for the remaining semester!!!!!!!!!

Let me do a brief intro of this cute guy.

He always carry a back pack and always carry his lap top on his hands. He NEVER comes to school without his lab top. NEVER EVER. He always hops around in the ICT block looking for empty classroom. He has a reputation for being the most cranky and eccentric guy in school. AND I AM GOING TO BE HIS CLASSMATE AND MOST LIKELY PARNTER FOR THE REMAINING SEMESTER!!!!

I used to disturb him whenever I see him, calling his name and saying hello, though he always ignore me. As what they says, what goes round comes round. Now I have to say HELLO to him every Thursday. NNB.

OK, so today’s the first meeting and he had already given me a great welcome. Below is some of the conversation we had and I bet most people are willing to pay to see this section on our conversation. But being the generous and kind hearted soul I ALWAYS am and will ALWAYS be, I decided to offer a sneak preview.

Delight 1:
Mr Wei-ge: “eh, you also fail har, at least I am not alone. (knn knn knn knn, must you
Always remind me I fail BA??)

Me: “ yah lor, haha…sian ar…fail BA..so will you be doing your FYP this sem?

WEi-ge: “ yah of course. Have to do liao lor. If not cannot finish.”

Me: I see. At least you get to do your FYP and finish this sem so you will not have to stay
Specially for FYP.

Wei-ge: Har? No lah..i doing FYP next sem.

(Editor note: This conversation left me eye red and ready to cry. Sob..my classmate for the remaining of the sem.)

Delight 2
The door to our classroom is such that you will need the student card for scanning in order to access. There was this particular girl who had to go out a while and she left the dustbin in between the door. And…me and wei-ge sit closest to the door.

Wei-ge: Aiyo! Why you leave the dustbin there?

Innocent victim: No lar. I need to go out a while. The door troublesome to open.

Wei-ge: Just use your student card to scan can liao.

Innocent victim: I didn’t bring (giving a little smile trying to curb her emotion)

Wei-ge: Huh? Didn’t bring? What if you need the support centre help? You will need the card leh. You should always bring your card with you mah.

The poor, pathenic, helpless, desperate, pitiful and innocent girl looked at me with pleading eyes. Yes. The moment has arrived. I knew I need to do something.

SUPER HERO ME: Dun worry, my lady. I will open it for you later.

Her eyes say it all. To her, I was like a knight on a white horse, galloping with a sword in hand, donned in full armour and a stylish helmet. “I WILL ALLOW NO ONE TO HURT YOU!!!” I bellowed.

Innocent victim: “ Thanks” (and I can really see she really means it)

(Editor note: This conversation left her eye red and ready to cry. But at least she knows there is still warmth in this world. There is hope yet.)

Delight 3
During the practical lesson where we were playing around with the models…

Wei-ge: Haha!! All these we do last time liao. The others here all first time. Only u and I do before liao!

NNB!! Are you announcing to the whole world that we are the losers repeating this module? And you are proud of it????????? And his voice was projected so loud that everyone can hear it. As I turned around, I can see some glances looking over our direction. Thanks dude.

(Editor Note: This conversation left me totally black eye and already crying in my heart. From a hero knight on a white horse to a totally crushed loser who fails his BA and repeating it again with a bunch of year 2s….WHY??!!!!!)

Delight 4
Our beloved male lead was looking at the name list of the class. Then he went, “ Hooray! The amount of students is of even number! Which means I will have a parnther liao! Last sem I do alone!”

Parnther? Parnther!! 20 people in the class. The other 18 all classmates. Which means these 18 will form 9 group. That leaves with him and…..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

(Editor Note: This conversation left me totally crushed, helpless, hopeless, desperate and utterly pathetic, worse than just now that girl. Before I met this guy, my world was black and white. And now, it becomes all black liao. And…its only day 1.)

SCH REOPEN!!!!! knn...

NNB…sch start liao…so sian…haven really recover from the long trip to India. Still missing everything there.

Anyway school on Monday was more like a chit chat session. There were no lessons apart for some briefings and meet the mentor stuff like that. I was really quite glad to see all are still fine. The same jolly old self.

Tuesday which is today was worse. I went to school to find a teacher regarding my elective problem and it became more of a treasure hunt. In the end I spent the whole morning fruitlessly. So much for waking up early. What makes me feel worse was when I checked my email at night and he replied saying he will be out of office for the next 3 days and asked me to refer the problem to another teacher. Which means 1 more day of treasure hunt tomorrow.

I don’t know what the hell is happening. While I was in India I was healthy throughout the trip there and had no problems like stomachache, fever or flu like most people had. But the moment I came back to Singapore, all these problems come at once. I cannot adapt back to Singapore food? Whatever..hope to recover back to normal self soon.

Home sweet home

Finally touched down in Singapore on sat morning.

India was great, really. The trip was really damn fun and to be honest, I really miss that place. I certainly learnt a lot of new things and it was of a different experience, different cultures, different living habits. It was a real eye-opener. Below is a list of things that highlights India.

1) There are a lot of dummy sets in India. The air-con and heater are visible to the eye in the hotels but most of them do not work.

2) The cars there horn at an average of 3 horns per second.

3) The buses are always fully packed. When I say fully packed, I really mean fully packed. Not a molecule will be allowed between you and another passager. Basically everyone is glued together and thrown into the bus like a sandwich.

4) There is a cow dung or dog dung every 20 steps you take.

5) Everyone always say India is a very hot place. Sorry. Singapore is much hotter.

6) The people there REALLY eat curry for every meal.

7) Road dividers are for show only and vehicles are always able to cross lanes to travel.

8) Every driver there drives like Formula 1 drivers.

9) There is a break of about 7 min in between the movie you watch for you to get some snacks or toilet.

10) They don’t sell beer after 6 pm.

11) The night spots there close around 11.30am.

12) It is very dusty there. Try going out for 20 min and wipe your face with tissue. All black.

13) It never rains for the past 20 odd days I was there.

14) Every households that have Tv will have cable tv and it has 60 odds channels and they include ESPN, star movies and even AXN.

15) Mosquitoes there are of commando caliber and they can bite you through your jeans.

16) We are treated like aliens there and are always stared at wherever we go.

17) The so-called Chinese food there also taste like Indian food.

18) You have to wait an average of 2 and a half hour when you order food in a café or restaurant. Even those so called 3 star hotel.

19) There are a lot of beggars everywhere.

20) Cows are sacred animals and are left wandering around.

21) The scenery in India is really very very beautiful.

22) When you order food in India and when the waiter has checked with the chef that your food is not available, he will come back and say,” I am sorry. But the food you order is not possible.”

23) There is no MacDonald in India. Only Pizza hut and KFC.

24) For guys, everywhere is public toilet.

25) Dogs mating is a very common sight in India.

That’s all I remember for now. I will update when I remember more. If even a chance again, I really hope to go there again.
