2046 zzzzzz

I watched the movie 2046 today despite my exams being 2 days away. I will sum up the movie with just a word. Art. Yes, this movie is all art. It seemed that most Hong Kong movies are going that route at the moment. To be honest, I sort of missed the usual typical slap-stick Hong Kong movies.

And anyway, onto 2046, the movie was extremely slow-moving with its background set in the 60s. The movie was all dialogue and also kept jumping from reality to fantasy and also from one time zone to another. I wouldn’t really say it’s a bad movie and but I don’t really think you will go into an old museum and enjoyed its artifacts for 2 hours right? The entire show almost had the music of soap opera as its background, adding onto the ‘art’ flavor. Away from the screen and onto the viewers, I was also desperately performing the art of not falling asleep. Although the movie may boost many stars, it seemed to me that Tony lan jiao wei is carrying the movie all by himself. The other so-called stars are being reduced to ‘costly extras’. So in my opinion, unless you are a fan of artistic French movies, I wouldn’t advise you to hold too high an expectation for this movie.

Hmm.. Those artistic movies can get on your nerves sometimes. I don't like movies that move slower than a snail.
