Battle Royale!!!

Just finished a movie entitled ‘Battle Royale 2’ on my com. I got this movie from my classmate quite some time ago and only had the time to watch it today.

Anyway this movie is a sequel to Battle Royale which raised much controversial comments and remarks when it came out. Some of the comments were that the creators of this movie must be totally sick or deprived of a healthy childhood when they were young.

Anyway, I will brief the story a bit. Battle Royale 1 is about a class of students being sent to an island. There were given different weapons each and were told to kill each other. At the end of 3 days, there can only be 1 survivor. Also each and every one of them were attached to a necklace and if there were to try anything funny, the bomb in the necklace will be activated and Boom! Heads will fly and blood will spill. In the conquest to survive, friends and buddies will have to turn against each other whether you like it or not. From the show, we see the ugly side of human nature. Back-stabbing, betrayal and seducing were all evident in this movie. There were some who decided to take another route by committing suicide so that they will not need to kill their own friends.

In my opinion, this movie has a very powerful story line which set my mind thinking. What if? What if I were struck in that situation? Will I kill my friends in order to survive? Will I really bear to do so? Can I do it? Luckily there was just a movie and not reality.

As for BR 2 (battle royale 2) I think this movie is not as good as the 1st one. I think it is because it has lost its appeal. BR 1 was a hit as the idea was fresh. BR 2 on the other hand, looks to be only ridding on the success of its first movie.

Despite it being a flop, there was a scene in the movie which was memorable. An adult soldier was killed by one of the teenagers in the movie. The adult, when hit, went sprawling onto the floor and before dying said,” Shit! You’ve got me. I have got a family too…”

That sets me thinking. When a war breaks out, soldiers from both sides are no different from each other. Each also have a family to feed and are also made of blood and flesh. Yet, in the hunt for dominance and victories, blood had to be shed and women have to turn into widows. Is war really necessary? Behind every victory there were so much blood being spilled and tears being shed. The people who die are of no difference to you and I.

My birthday wish for this year is world peace. Haha…noble right…BUT..the world is need of it. Its sickening to open the newspaper in the morning and see some places being bombed by terrorists or some planes being hijacked. How nice will it be when you wake up in the morning and were told that there was no news today. How nice is it to know that nothing has happened today and there were no contents to be filled into the newspaper column since all the news in the papers all seems to be bad news.

Anyway away from my nobility and sad notes, exams is just a week away. I think I ought to start studying. Maybe I will start tomorrow. Maybe.

Is there God in this world?
Yes.
He who dares to hold his own fate in his own hand is God.

In a war, both sides are the same, fighting for what they stand for and believe in. I'll lend you the DVD "We Were Soldiers" next time. It's a movie that shows exactly that.

2 braves sides fighting for their loved ones, what they stand for and believe in.
